I have led a few soaking sessions before and been in a few. That's the extent of my experience. I always get the sense that there are some rules I need to follow. So here are two questions...

1) If you sing, does it matter which perspective you sing from? It seems to me there are three options...
a) Singing from God's perspective ("You are my child")
b) Singing about God's perspective ('You are His child')
c) Singing from the human perspective to God ('You are my Father')

Can you combine these in one session? Is it a preferene thing? I tend to prefer a)

2) Is it ok to go a different direction if you feel led? What if it seems right to move into intercession or sing a worship song (and ask soakers to sing it) or harp and bowl stuff? Does that mean the soaking session is over? Are soakers gonna be annoyed or disappointed?

Thanks for any input.

I have a lot of questions myself, but instead of hijacking your thread, I'll make a new one.
Thanks!

Hi Todd, welcome to the Soaking Worship Discussions! My view....
You rightly identify 3 perspectives from which we can lead worship. If we are being lead by the Holy Spirit, then He can nudge us into either one of these 3 directions at any time. There are no "rules" that govern this sort of thing - except being sensitive to whoever has the responsibility for the overall meeting - what is acceptable in the context of the meeting - that sort of thing ( eg some churches are not happy with tongues) The beauty of a soaking time is that it is flexible, and can go anywhere, you can do anything that feels right for that moment. I find generally though that because we are "co-laborers with God" it helps to pray beforehand to have some idea of what the meeting is for to help bring some sense of order to the session. But beyond that, I just jump in the River and see where it takes me!
