I started learning and doing sign language as part of worship services in a Baptist Church. I have served on worship teams and worship choirs, and use signing when I am inspired by the Lord to do so. It is a three-dimensional manifestation of worship, in my opinion.

What have been your experiences with 'song-signing' in church? I do not interpret in services any more - I am one of the primary music leaders now. I often find I have a hard time NOT signing songs as I sing them - especially the refrains on praise songs - it just deepens the worship experience for me. Once in a while I'll do it with a solo that's sung by another singer, and the congregation has said it was very powerful. (One example is 'Thank You' by Ray Boltz.) But I'm wondering what your experiences have been.

I've been signing maybe 12 years. I taught myself through various means. I don't know anyone "to practice on", but I do know God lead me to learn sign and I love it! I really enjoy signing with the worship team.
