Hi good people,
I'm a newby to this website but loving what I've read & learned so far. Hit me up if your in Coromandel Town @ Coro Elim. It's so neat how God does what He does not just 'cause He can but 'cause He wants to bless us. We've had some major changes in our worship team as people's life circumstances have rearranged their living arrangements & locations i.e. new jobs, marriage, transfers... so from a fairly healthy compliment we are reduced to a handful. But I believe God's grace is upon the team and He will do what He will do and we will do what He asks us to :)

Its funny every time a "hole" is created by me being away or some core person on the team leaves someone else pops and and it usually gets even better! So I have found that taking something away.. especially if it is strong core person in the team, even the leader, God often pulls someone out of the blue, where we would never expect and after a short term we all look back and go. "Hey that wasn't a disaster at all, God has talent everywhere, just waiting for encouragement and an opportunity" Twice in the last year we have had strong worship team leaders leave (happens alot in Queenstown very transient town) and God has shown us he is in charge after all.
We had 4 new additions in the team in the last 2 months after our incredible worship leader left, (remember as a church there are only 50 of us).
A young 17 year old guy who just got saved (amazing electric guitarist but 0 ego!)
His girlfriend who saw a change in him and did the same 2 weeks later (awesome singing voice and loves to worship).
A 14 year old young lass (acoustic guitar) and a shy girl about 17 again who just moved into town and she plays keys and sax.
I had to go away for a few weeks, and these guys along with our drummer ended up being our team and everyone raved about how good the worship was that week!.. They got together themselves and did a few practices before.
I love it when people self motivate, make something their own, have a humble heart and love Jesus. No egos. They where only saved a few weeks, actually the guy on guitar played the week before he was saved.
I am away for 4 weeks and am so excited cause I may be "redundant" from the team just about they way these people are going so well. . I know I wont be, but hey its all about Jesus getting worshipped from the whole congregation and the team and thats happening. Its awesome!

Hey Shane, Good to hear what God is doing around the place. It is amazing what happens when we give the reins back to the Lord! We have 3 services at our church all of which are quite different in terms of the style/content of the music that is used but all have the one goal of worshipping our Lord and leading the church family in worship. The team I head up is small but tight knit with a stable core of 4-5 and a floating mix of another 4 or 5 who come along when rostered on or can attend. Its tough at times but I believe that the Lord is starting to chip away at some of the edges and challenge us in terms of our worship and what it means to worship. I pray for more freedom and for our team to step out in faith in terms of our music, and our worship.

Yep we are a chatty bunch.
So how are things going.. great we are a small team in a 50 person church and we have an abundence of talent . we like to let people jump in and go for it in out team and encourage everyone to to participate and it sure is surprising what happens when you let this sort of attitude loose. People dig their "talent" as in the parable of the talents, and start using them, developing them and as a leader i start to become redundant cause people are self motivated and excited well ok Jesus motivates them, but they are not stifled in anyway. Sure works for us here. I even have the musicians have extra music team meetings and practices cause they want to! Makes me shake my head and go wow. What an awesome God we have. Jesus came to set us free. Trust God in them and the results are inspiring. Example. 16 year old, never been to church, saved one week, singing next week, leading in a month and worshiping God with all her heart.
