There are 4 people in my youth worship team, 2 music players and all are singers, 2 of them dont show up to practise but still want to "perform" but im finding it kinda hard to tell them that its not a performance its a time thats meant to be spent between them and God. but my youth pastor has told me to kick them out if they keep doing it but that would leave 1 musician and 2 singers. Any advise?

You will have to ask God for wisdom because no one really knows them on this website but you do. I have had times when I have asked people to leave the band - most times when we did that God provided more musicans. On other occassions we just had a lovely accoustic set with one singer and one guitar - it was beautiful (usually we are full on rock worship ha ha). At other times we had to give people grace and offer them some loving discipline but still allowed them to stay on team. It is very difficult to know which way to turn but God will guide you.

Just NEVER feel you need them! That will limit you. God will worshipped no matter what form the band takes, it's OK you don't need to panic :) Hope that helps a little.

A very good point, Angela. The moment anyone has more pull over us that the Holy Spirit, something is wrong. Doesn't mean you have to have to let them go (as others have said, find out what's going on in their life first), but know that if you do, God has other ways of building the team.
Part of our worship offering to God is to honor our commitments. If they can't keep their own commitments to the worship team, then they aren't fit to lead worship. Kick them off the team and do the best you can with your leftovers. God will bless your team and the people you lead by doing this.
Kelsy,
Others have said, only you know your team. First, do the best you can to accommodate their schedules. Get everyone together and talk about what times/ days might work for practice. Make sure you have exhausted your options. Once you know you have done all you can, then you will be free to ask people to step down if that is what's needed.

Before you do that, find out where they are in their walk. Ask them questions about worship, such as do you have personal worship time outside of the church gathering? What does worship mean to you? Etc. Really get a sense of who they are in the Lord.

In the end you want willing hearts. You want people who love the Lord and find joy in worshipping Him for no other reason than to just be in His presence. You want people who can do that on or off the stage. Be careful and discerning, giving them as much grace as you have (remember God extends us exponentially more grace than we will ever be able to give each other). Once you have made your decision, don’t look back. If they really are not there to worship and truly are there just to “perform” as you mentioned then it’s better to have 2 people who are worshipping than 10 people who are performing.
Wish you all the best.

I don't have a solution to not showing up for rehearsal, but don't let the loss of 1/2 [if it comes to that] frustrate you.  We began with 1 acoustic and 2 voices.  It worked just fine.  We have added bass and drums since, but still acoustic and 2 voices.  Makes the drummer a bit crazy trying to avoid stepping on the sound but she's doing just fine at it.
