I was in music production for the Walt Disney Co. when I received and accepted the call to the music ministry.  I've been a worship leader for 14 years and have never looked back!  God bless you all.

I am not in my 20's, 30's, or 40's. I am in my 50's and an old Rock n Roller. I started playing bass for my worship team 3 years ago. I graduated to Worship Leader earlier this year. What a challenge in deed. As a Rock n Roll Front Man it was all about image and entertaining your audience. As Worship Leader the challenge is bringing the congregation closer to our Father in Heaven and walking closer with Jesus. Playing Bass, singing and leading the band plays on the head a bit but I find taking a step back and letting the Holy Spirit take control works for me. So far I haven't failed. My fingers seem to be playing the bass on their own and the band knows exactly where I am headed with each note. As for the singing and leading the congregation to their destination, I thank the Holy Spirit for doing all of that. Other than that, I found that there is no formula .

I represent Mark Beswick - worship leader, and he is doing a worship seminar in London to help worship leaders just like you! The seminar is just two hours but it will cover worship theory and practice. As an experienced worship leader, Mark has been teaching on this subject for over 15 years! He wants to use this opportunity to spend time with a small group of worship leaders - max 20 - so that he can advise you more personally, allow you to ask questions and share ideas and tips and to give your personal prayer for your worship team and your responsibilities!

If you can't make it to London then Mark and his team are prepared to travel to your church to give worship workshops to your whole team and then finish the day with a big worship concert at your church led by your worship team and Mark Beswick!

Hey, Dawn, maybe you could start a forum thread like Brett did so that all the comments could be channeled into one spot (other than on this general comment page). Maybe give us a particular area to focus on, if you have one (or two!).

Hi Everyone! Like the last guy who commented, I am a new worship leader too, (not 20 though Brett... lol) and I feel very blessed to have this opportunity to share the blessings that God has given me in my Church home. This kinda got thrown my way, so like the others before me I will take ANY advice with open arms! Our church is very very small and new, only about 70 members at this time and it's rolling over from a church full of "elders" and the church was ready to "die" if you will and now with a new pastor (he will be there 5 yrs this Sunday) he has breathed new life and we have a lot of younger people and families now attending. PRAISE GOD! So to try to satisfy everyone's "likes" to the best of my ability, I am incorporating the older hymns along with the new praise and worship music. Right now its just me and backgrounds til we can get more musicians involved in our church... Again ANY Help would Rock!
