Intro and how did you get into the Messianic movement?

Pretty quiet group here. I have been in the messianic movement (officially) for almost 14 years. G-d was working before that to get our family ready for the change. I was a house mate of Barry Segal…Continue

Congrats on your seder! (I just published an e-book haggadah)

My son and I got to back up both Paul Wilbur and Marc Chopinsky during the Tikkun and UMJC conferences last summer.

I didn't even know a group like this existed. Glad I found you. We are getting ready to have a Seder Dinner this Good Friday and I've put three songs together for our worship team to learn for this event. I'd like the share them with you all. They are NOT originals. They are from Paul Wilbur and Joel Chernoff. It was fun learning these songs and the Lamb song (Joel Chernoff) takes me way back to my early conversion years. Love his passion in his singing.

Hi Messianic Worship Leaders,

How is your year going? Our worship team has been learning some Ted Pearce music off of his newest CD, Battle for Zion. Am Echad is harder to learn than one thinks. We average between five to seven songs a Shabbat. What songs are you all learning these days?  Anyone writing their own lyrics?

I'm interested. Do tell!

Welcome to several that joined this group in the last couple of weeks. Please let us know how you became interested in Messianic Worship and what your challenges may be. One of my challenges this yr is to learn enough Hebrew that I can actually sing some of the worship in Hebrew/English. Not trying to be a people pleaser, just something I want to do.

Hope everyone's new year is going well!

One of my challenges this coming year is to petition congregational leadership with a more spontaneous song time, not necessarily more time, but more of a free flow. I have been inspired by Kelly Willard (who is on my FaceBook), who has been a very free worshiper and has taught many to appreciate free flow worship as it can really break down strongholds. I feel that is what the Burn experience is coming from Vineyard and International House of Prayer Networks. At present, a goal has been accomplished to have almost 100% participation in the singing, and it makes such a difference when you know others are following, as opposed to feeling like it becomes performance because others won't participate...in so many contemporary Christian churches I've found a lot of irreverence. Not surprising Casting Crowns' song If We Are The Body would address that issue because that's exactly wheat can happen. Currently, we meet in such close quarters that it makes the singing time much more intimate and so, all participate. We will be moving into another building after the first of the year and, of course, I am concerned we may lose something because it is larger. But we will all be very aware of this.

We usually adapt some of the song material from contemporary worship songs to say Yashua, rather than Jesus, although either is permitted in our services...at firs this was a peeve that it would even matter, but I believe I can see the point. I do my best when I operate in a free environment. But that's because I come from a Pentecostal/Full Gospel/Charismatic background...That said, I still like structure, as well...

Did anyone attend the recent conference in Florida (I believe it is MJAA)? We had several congregants attend. They usually come back all fired up.

Some of our congregants recently went to Israel, as well. They found some fellow Messianics that were nationals and actually brought back some of their music. I haven't had the time to review it carefully, but our congregation does a lot of circular dances in between elements of our service time. So, some of those songs have been used to do dance. Our service structure is basically lighting of candles, Tzit Tzit blessing, Shofar blessing, several other blesssings and recitations, praise and worship (4-6 songs), more blessings including a Torah service, reading from it both OT and NT, offering time, announcements, blessing of children, main message and Ahronic blessing. We have an eating time afterward...

Hi, just thought I'd introduce myself. I love Messianic music. Some of my favorite Messianic songs are Jew & Gentile, Kadosh, Praise Adonai, Hiding Place, I Will Celebrate, Baruch Adonai. I find the production of a lot of what's available out there to be kinda hokey, so if you can recommend some gems, I'd appreciate it.

Oh so right Rita! I have been tracking with Paul Wilbur's The Watchman since it came out in '05. I believe there are more songs to be written that declare the role of "watchmen" and will have the effect of the praisers in the taking of OT Jericho. The Watchmen will be the shofars of the coming end time moments.

I have been reading Dutch Sheet's book, Watchman Prayer and making declaration from my spirit on such things.

As a worship leader, I have a real sense the Spirit of the Lord will be giving explicit direction during the coming year of 2010. Within our own congregation, we have been getting our bearings and with feet firmly planted, I think our ears will be more attentive...I feel a need to write songs that will reflect this sense...anyone else sense something in the Spirit?
