Dave, Prayer and a trained German Shephard chained to it. Nice keyboard though. To be honest, if you are that worried, you might need to pay for separate insurance for the keyboard, which woll work out to about $250 pa or so depending on who is the insurer and where you are.

Need security help - our church just bought a Roland RD700NX and we need to bolt it all together and bolt to the ground - or something like that.

Any ideas on how to make this thing burgler proof?  How have you done it at your church?

There's a couple active yahoo groups that could be helpful to you to start out. This one's my fave: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/piano-teachers/

Experience, educational background, and regional location (i.e., what the cost-of-living is relatively) will determine your market value more than we could figure out here. I'd ask around for what other teachers are charging, what the university pedagogy schools are charging, etc. For me, once I graduated from university I charged a bit more than what I earned as a student teacher teaching in the pedagogy schools. I now have 10 yrs. of experience after my degree (and 8 before), so 18 yrs. of teaching experience plus a degree make me one of the higher-costing teachers around. However, I live in a relatively low COL area, so I'm priced appropriately for that. :)

Teaching lessons can be really enjoyable, and a family-friendly way to earn some extra income. Although I have a degree in piano pedagogy I've learned more from networking with other teachers online and in real life that I ever did in my pedagogy classes at college, so I'd highly, highly recommend connecting with some teachers in your area, either through one of the professional groups or individually, and to join the above yahoo group.

Best of luck!

Currently, i am looking at a new Yamaha S70XS, it is hammer action and lighter and easier to carry than the S90 XS but has some very nice features for performances in mind. Better than the old S90ES IMO and a top piano sound to boot.
