A few years ago I felt prompted to write a song about harvest and how we do not follow God's seasons anymore. The way we treat our food sources is another example of the tower of babel syndrome:
Here are the lyrics. I've attached the chord version and a rough demo.
A Song for Harvest
Harvest Sunday, Harvest Home,
Harvest doesn’t have a time of its own
Anymore, Anymore
In the supermarket, we’ve lost our sense,
of where the food comes from,
look there’s two more pence,
upon a bag of rice,
though the packing’s very nice
it’s someone’s harvest, someone’s life.
Harvest Sunday, Harvest Home,
Harvest doesn’t have a time of its own
Anymore, Anymore
God has provided through the farmers’ hand,
food that still comes from the promised land.
So let us remember, let us say,
thanks to our God, for harvest day.
Harvest Sunday, Harvest Home,
Harvest doesn’t have a time of its own
Anymore, Anymore
Thank you, Lord for the food we eat,
show us Lord; the cost of it
Thank you, Lord that we do not fear
An empty fridge now that winter’s here
Thank you, Lord
Thank you, Lord
Thank you, Lord
For the Harvest…..
