Happy 2012 Fellow worshippers of God!  What has God been speaking to you during your time of worship?  Here in Janesville WI the Lord has been revealing His heart for His people, His abounding love for us...

A question for all our Harp and Bowl folk.  This group has been quiet for some time.

We have started a God Chasers prayer at our church that is on every Monday night from 5:30pm to 7:30 pm.  As all other meetings we have seem to be so foucused on their respective domains etc we decided to start this group where we just come and seek God's face.  It has been very interesting.

The question I have is this, what worship or instrumental music CD's would anyone recommend as background that would stir the spirits of men and women as they pray and worship and seek God's face?  Our musicians are maxed out with meetings so we do not want to pull them into this one too and there are musicians that come who just want to seek God's face without the responsiblity of having to play.

Randy, thanx, thanx and thanx. We are not quite as structured as yourselves but these are our 'events' and I use that term loosely. We have the first Friday of every month from 10pm to 5am as our regular meeting. We do try to have the entire team together at 9pm for an hour so that we can bond in the spirit of unity and like you I have often found that in that time the repentance and preparation of the heart is critical. Loosely the other Fridays there are also meetings but not as structured. i.e. The first Friday of the month is on the church calender and is supported by the musicians, worship leaders and other levites. The other Fridays are not 'official' and there often backing tracks or just worship cd's are used if musicians are not available. As you will notice as this goes through the night our challenge is on the musicians and worship leaders especially if they have other functions the next day. I have learnt that God can grace me to do all day Friday, all Friday night and carry onto Saturday night, however only a few others have realised that grace. We then have what we call domain Prayer every day of the week from 6.30am to 7.30am. Different spheres of influence are covered alternatively on different days. Monday is Agriculture, Business and Economics. Tuesday is Church and Government. Wednesday is Family and Education. Thursday is Health, Science and Technology, Friday (my personal favourite) is Sport, Arts and Media and Saturday is Cell groups and Church leadership. At the ideal times we have at least a keyboardist and one or two worshippers at these meetings, however of late they have been a bit scant as so many new congregations have started up that many have moved out to minister in these.
So how many hours are you behind us in Zimbabwe, would luv to join with you at times in the spirit.

Praise God Brother sounds like you have a awesome team What we have done in the past is an hour or more before the service is have all of the team prayer leaders worshipers musicians intercessors all in a back room or a prayer closet so you can have that alone time with God and every one lay prostrate and REPENT before the lord and cry out for His will or what works for you just as the priests cleansed themselves before they entered the HOLY place . I will be praying for the heavens to bust open with the Glory of the Lord where are you ? what day and what time is your ministry? we will intercede with you .
and if you can intercede for our Ministry . We meet at 6 p.m. on Sunday evening at the City Marina on Melody Lane in downtown Fort Pierce Florida We are called THE RIVER WALK OUTREACH the musicians post on facebook is our link

Randy, thanks for your insightful and comprehensive comments. I managed to chat with the band director last night and he is excited about the chord progressions as he is always looking at deepening our experience in God in Worship. In all our Harp and Bowl meetings we endeavour to let the Holy Spirit have right of way. The challenge that we face is that at times the musicians worshippers we are working with as prayer leaders are not trained or experienced in Harp and Bowl ministry. You quite rightly say each ministry has its own DNA. What I look out for as a prayer leader, are the musicians and/or worshippers on the same page as us? As I mentioned before, I am constantly monitoring the flow of the Holy Spirit, not in the sense to regulate, block or control the Holy Spirit, but that we, the prayer leaders and the musicians/worshippers are actually in tune with the Holy Spirit and ready to move with Him. At times the music that is being offered is not it, at times the prayers are not it, at times the worshippers are not it. It is constantly balancing where the Holy Spirit is emphasising, opening, warring etc. I'm sure you know all these things. If you are in a ministry that has a rich heritage of Harp and Bowl and all those involved are seasoned I'm sure your time in it is straight forward, just flowing with the Holy Spirit. I'm not complaining, just always want to learn what I can to minimise fumbling in the dark. I have in the past had to go to the keyboardist and tell him/her straight, stop playing out of your talent and play from the spirit, had to grab the attention of the bass guitarist who has lost himself in his only little groove, at times shutting the musicians worshippers up because what is needed is that silence before the throne. etc etc etc. Guess us leaders have still a lot of praying to do for the musicians/worship leaders. I'm excited about the chord progressions because on a personal level I am into the sound of Heaven, I realise it is not all about singing songs. Will let you know how we progress, thanks again for the your insights.

Wilhelm Olivier the thing that I have noticed about harp and bowl is instead of having our own SPIRITUAL DNA we tend to be copycats and try to follow the format of what others have done . Instead We need to start with a blank page and intercede for what God wants to do with your ministry . Jesus never intended for us to model our ministry from other men instead to model it after His walk . somewhere along the way the fowler has slipped into the church .We wonder why the HOLY SPIRIT does not show up in power . It is simple We try to control everything that happens instead of trusting God to move on his own free will. at that point We are operating out of fear and not out of faith . I have learned if you want the Holy spirit to move you have to get out of his way .I call it the John the Baptist mentality we are paving the way for the greater One . SOS we have to learn how to not control and suppress the Spirit but how to flow in His River of the ANOINTING AND SWIM WITH IT AND NOT AGAINST IT .
The reason for the vamp CHORD PROGRESSION is so you can shift gears .To often with Harp and Bowl we grind the same chord progression over and over and over and over and over................................................................
I have found that movement is the key you must shift gears just like in a truck or a car or a bus etc..... but it has to be done with the movement of the HOLY ONE . We must leave our thoughts and our ideas at the alter and pick up His direction and go with Him . hop in the back seat and leave the driving up to JESUS We have to learn to trust Him like peter did when he stepped out of the boat the moment we take our eyes off him we sink .I hope and pray that this gives you a fresh revelation . and anoint all of your instruments sound board building everything and set it apart as praise instruments unto the Lord like David did and claim the building as Holy Ground and take Authority as a Priest and a Prophet of the most High over the Atmosphere bind up the spiritual forces of wickedness in high places and give charge to Gods Holy angles . most Important is this Enter His courts with Thanksgiving in your hearts and Praise on your lips . We have entered all the way in to the Holy of Holy's with out even striking a chord or note on any instrument . I have everyone think of at least one thing they are thankful for and begin to thank The Father as one . at that moment the celebration begins and He fill's our hearts with an overabundance of praise and worship at that point the music is not an idol but Jesus is being worshiped in spirit and in truth and that is what He desires
.GOD BLESS YOU let me know how this works for you it's as real as it gets .
peace and AGAPE your Brother in Christ Randy Hamilton

Randy, if you don't mind I have copied your chords etc and will go talk to our musicians. These chords that you are talking about as letters mean zip to me. Let me explain - I'm not a musician but I am heavily involved with Harp and Bowl ministry and often am the authority at these meetings. When I say authority I am talking about spiritual authority, the one carrying the can in the realm of the spirit as you cannot have lawlessness in these meetings. I am under authority of our Senior Pastors and our Prayer Pastor and as such carry the authority of the meeting if I have been delegated it. As the key person I therefore am constantly monitoring the flow of the Holy Spirit. This you do with the prayers being offered and the worship. My frustration has been that often I sense a need in the change of the music, either tempo, volume, style or instruments. Some of these I can communicate to the musician, but if I have an unskilled in Harp and Bowl ministry musician, getting them onto the right track can be a challenge. I will check out with them these cord progressions that you are talking about and see if that helps me in any way so that I can at least instruct in the right direction with language they know what I'm talking about. I know all about revving the people up with praise songs especially in our all night prayers, but the spirit of entertainment can slip in so subtlely, that is why I constantly monitor what the Holy Spirit is doing - and if I'm not sure I consult with other strong spiritual leaders present. At times musicians can play an awesome song that has no anointing on it. I have also learnt that at times the musicians drive the prayer and at times the prayer drives the musicians. It is learning which when and getting the musicians with the flow that can be interesting - no two meetings are the same but there are certain sounds, chords, plays that do help and seem to be partial to God.

Anna it is easy to set up for intercesory worship it takes little preperation since it is led by the holy spirit . here is an example if after you have done several praise songs and everyone is reved up play a couple of worship songs say you are in the key of Em and the cord progression is Em G D C and you have went thru the song every one is in tune with it . that is when you drop the holy spirit A bomb . you have to shift your chord progression to what some praise and worship leaders call the vamp . if you are in EM G D C you would shift to C# A E B and that is when you begin to prophecy and use vocal commands
such as COME HOLY SPIRIT Thank you Lord Jesus have your way
IN THE NAME OF JESUS I BIND EVERY DEMON AND CAST THEM TO THE PIT I PROCLAIM THE FREEDOM OF THE LORD I PLEAD THE BLOOD OF JESUS OVER EVERY ONE HERE AND FATHER CAN WE COME INTO YOUR ROOM AND BE WITH YOU AND FATHER WILL YOU COME HERE AND BE WITH US DWELL IN THE MIDST OF US LORD JESUS COME HOLY SPIRIT YOU ARE WELCOME HERE YOU ARE FREE TO DO THE FATHERS WILL IN THE NAME OF JESUS and at that point you will be all the way in
to the HOLY OF HOLYS and you need some one to read scripture AKA the living breathing ever changing word of GOD and when thay read a scripture
the music has to continue stay in the vamp wait for the holy spirit to speak and then sing from your spirit and the annoiting will flow like a raging river
and you can shift gears with differant vamps VAMP FREE WORSHIP CORDS

E B A
AM F C G
BM G D A

VAMP CHORDS
E B A E B

AM F C G

C# B A E

D C G

G C D
and make up chord sheets that work for you and others on your team so that they are in your key and flow in the spirit you will know when it is time to shift gears to another chord progression sometimes it is so sweet you may only do one progression or do several the ones i pasted are ones that we have and still use and have worked for us you have to hop in the back seat and leave the driving to Jesus and He will take you places you never dreamed you can go amen

I love that this group exists. I felt the holy spirit of the lord telling me to prepare myself because he will be unleashing in me an anointing for prophetic worship. This is not something I'm an expert at - I was raised in the catholic church, became born again at 23 and have been leading in a spirit-filled fellowship that has some traditions and practices that lean heavily towards the early church and Jewish heritage. So I'm still trying to imagine HOW that 'prophetic' anointing will come about in this setting and how it will sound and look. The only thing I can do is remain open, wait on the spirit and try to prepare and stretch myself. I know a little about Harp and Bowl and have been following IHOP with interest for a couple of years now. I want to know how to 'grow' in this area - do i just set aside a time and DO it, or do I wait on the spirit to lead me towards it during one of our services? ANY help/advice appreciated!
