G.A.S. (or Gear Acquisition Syndrome) has effected many. You, yourself may have it. If so, this group is for you. Feel free to join and invite others to converse about what musical gear you have, what musical gear you want, and post reviews.

So, what guitar(s) do you play? What do you lead with? What are the positives and what are the negatives? Would you suggest your guitar(s) to others to purchase for their own? Why?

A friend put tigether a Fender Telecaster from parts AND gave me a Marshall Class 5 amp.
So now I have entered into having MORE stuff.
I know that "things" are to be used for God's glory.
May it be thus!
Comment by Mike Musser on December 22, 2010 at 3:23am >> anyone on his Strat
If I had a one guitar, I guess it would probably be a Strat. Good thing I have (a lot) more than 1 guitar! ;)
Comment by Toni on December 21, 2010 at 1:20pm Oddly enough I'm not planning anything kit-related, though I'd quite like a Dano coolcat overdrive, if one should turn up cheap and used.
Comment by SeraphimRenegade on December 21, 2010 at 8:51am Nathan, I'm thinking I might get my guitar a good reverb pedal for Christmas. I think it's what she's been asking for! ;)
Comment by Nathan Bush on December 15, 2010 at 11:10pm Okay - now that all the formalities are out...What are you getting your guitar for Christmas?
Seriously this IS self-help. If you can get yourself to joke around a bit maybe you can start easing out of the GAS thing.
I had the pleasure of playing with a talented young man several years ago. He used his plethora of gear as an extension of the guitar. He is very talented and I learned a lot from him. On the other hand I also knew another guitar player who only had a Cry Baby and a Muff Fuzz pedal that could outplay most anyone on his Strat

Comment by Nathan Bush on December 13, 2010 at 10:12pm I'm really still in denial :) I don't have that much gear but hey, we can stop any time we want. Right? And who wouldn't want that perfect something that completes the sound we're looking for?
All that said, I'm really more of a purist. I just like a little distortion and/or chorus now and then. Okay, the Morley power-wah was needed to boost my tones for leads, and the One-Spot was a must in order to power-up the effects and foot switches . After all, there's just so few outlets to go around...
Don't take your aquiring of gear take your eyes off Jesus!
"All things in moderation." Balance to the cross. Don't be a fanatic, except where it comes to loving God and people!
Comment by Toni on December 11, 2010 at 2:37pm I thought this was going to be a self-help group, AA style.
;-)
GAS has been a problem, though not something that has ever been allowed to run unchecked. I don't have any real GAS now, basically by staying off gear-oriented forums and not buying guitar magazines. Having amp building as a hobby isn't helpful either.....
