Bilingual Worship

Anyone else out there lead worship in two languages? Ours is usually in both English and Spanish. How do you find the balance?

My husband is music director for a spanish church. We actually attend two churches one in English and one in Spanish. I've tried spanish in the English speaking church and I don't think people are really receptive to it. Our little town has gone through some racial issues with in the last year and it has made things a bit tough. Just pray for us. Of course the spanish church is much more open to both languages and often has both. Balance is difficult. It's the young people that know both languages. I'm not sure how those that only know spanish feel about it.

I live in HB So Cal, so most of the people here no a litte spanish. But when Im leading worship its all mostly english, the only time I get to do spanish is in small bible studies and thats just usually the chorus sometimes I will do it twice, people like it alot but it kinda puts the attention on me so I stay away from it. I wish there was more opp to lead in spanish. in his grip. Ernie

Well, I was living in So. Cal and our church had a hispanic church come in and share our building. We began to fellowship together and every other month, we would have a combination service. Our whole service would be bilingual including Praise & Worship. I didn't speak spanish so I began to go to their services and to their rehearsals. I did this for four years. My spanish is still not that good but I can CANTA in espanol. I now have the opportunity again to assist a church who is bilingual. I am long forward to this and the Pastor has offered to teach me spanish as well as did the last pastor. I am so excited. Vivemos para glorifica to nombre. I hope I spelled tthat right. If you have any tips, suggestions or just words of encouragement, please let me know.

We lead worship in both languages and its a little hard to find a balance. The good thing is that 70% of the songs that we play we have them in both languages. And to bring a balance we have songs in just spanish and some just in english.
