Types of Bass Strings
Has anyone ever used Nylon tape Wound Strings? Or Flat wound Steels? thinking about trying them but unsure which to try first.

I have a set of flat wound steels. I heard it was supposed to give a "warmer" sound. Haven't used them yet.

I used Rotosound Black Tapewounds on my fretless when I had one, they were pretty good...I used D'Addario Chromes before that, they were also good strings...no experience with steel flats, sorry...

I actually went with D'Addario Chromes. Definitly a different tone. I like it tho.

I've tried flat-wounds, and they're great for not beating up your fingers, but I use Rotosound Jazz round wounds on all my basses. Love the bite they give my two fretted and the MWAH from my fretless is AMAZING.
