I really don't know the true meaning of ' fear of the Lord' or even if there is a 'true' meaning.  For me though, it means total respect and reverence for the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings. I think of 'fear' as being frightened or 'afraid' and I don't feel any of those things when it comes to God. I was brought up to be frightened of God and I don't think for one minute that He wants us to feel like that. So for me it means that I try my utmost not to hurt or cause pain to the God who died for me and that I love with all my heart. It may sound a very childlike approach, but there you have it : )

God Bless. Lorraine

I think you have your answer in your question, it is a deep reverent love and awe for God that you have for no other than Him.

Sometimes I think we want to get to deep into answers that are really right there and simple for us. God doesn't want us to spend our life trying to figure everylittle thing out, He just wants us to Love Him and follow Him and bring others to do the same.

You need to understand who He is - The Almighty God of all things. He has the power and passion to transcend all thought and glory above all others. He is king and the glory is His; for He is not just a king but The King and should be treated as such.

The fear you are alluding to is that of know who we are addressing and being in the presence of - all the time. In the times when a King or Queen who had the power of life and death over subjects, but treated you with kindness; the knights were both loyal to the end and fearful not to offend their sovereign in anyway.

Good analagy, very good way to explain fear of the Lord.
