Youth group won't worship with music!

A similar experience: I grew up in the RCA Reformed Church and in my late teens early twenties started attending a Baptist church with my girlfriend (now wife). I had sunday school discussions at both churches and both pointed the finger at the other church's view of baptism and said, "See? They believe the very act of baptism is regenerative because of the way they do it, no matter what they claim in their doctrine about it being symbolic. We're the ones doing it right." Yup. We don't go to either place now, but attend an independent bible church. I don't expect people to jump up and down when we sing together. But I don't want to force them to, nor do I wish to prevent them from being that demonstrative. If they're excited in worship but not walking out the door more enabled to pray and work and live and love as unto the Lord, what is the value in it?

When I baptized my son, I slipped on the steps going in and immersed us both before we got to say any words at all.  So I will never be accused of doing it right:)

Really good point!  We should never assume we know what is in the heart of another.  Nor should we begin to think we truly understand the workings of the Holy Spirit.

Hi Christian

We had the same problem, years ago.

This is how we solved it.

Get them to move to free space.

Turn off lights and get some strobes or normal club lights. (creates atmosphere and sad to say ,but todays youth hang out in clubs more than the church and they are used to it)

Choose songs like Jump Around by Planetshakers,

before starting let them all jump (practice) do not start until you see them all doing it.

Let them sign an imaginary document in the air saying that for the next 30min (however long your P&W is) they will give God all they have and not worry about who is next to them.

I know this is a bit far out there,  but it worked for us.

Soon picked up and the youth started doing that during our services and the whole church picked it up.

Glad that worked for you guys. Our youth would rather stick needles in their eyes.
