Worship The Rock - Worship Leader Forum & Social Network

Worship Leaders Network | Worship Leader Forum | Worship Leader Resources & Jobs

I'm going to start creating articles or blog posts and thought it would be fun to have a 'Top 10' series.

So if you're up for it, please help me out with this one by posting some worship leading 'myths' - and yes they can be funny as well as true :-)

I'll pick the best 10 and put them into an article, or blog post so please only share them if you're willing for them to reused and reprinted.

This should be fun!

Phil

Update (09/09/09): I've just published the '101 Worship Leader myths' on the new Worship The Rock blog - enjoy!

Everyone understands the spontaneity of worship
#1 - If the worship leader loves a song, everyone else in the congretation will too, unless they are spiritually immature.
#2 - The preperation and performance of the worship team determines whether the Spirit will "show up".
GACK! I'm presently not in a church leadership role, and I am so so so so so glad that I don't have to hear about the concept of God "showing up."

You could probably start another discussion on Hackneyed and Weird Catch-Phrases and run this site out of storage space.
Yeah, this is an ugly one that pops it's head up from time to time. Even with people who i know should know better.
I've just discovered this site and it's refreshing to see honest, open dialogue about church-related issues. Dialogue I wish would take place in the church.
#3 - The worship team has the ability to "bring people into the presence of God".
#4 - The congregation can't worship without a worship team.
