Songs emphasizing the Kingdom of God
We are preparing to start a 4-week series on the Kingdom of God.
1st week "Kingdom"
2nd Week "King"
3rd Week "Citizenship"
4th Week "Community"
I am struggling with music for week one that emphasizes the Kingdom of God. So far, I have "Better Is One Day" and Matt Maher's " As It Is In Heaven". I would appreciate any suggestions.

"God of This City" by Chris Tomlin jumps to mind as a recent song.

"Hear The Call Of The Kingdom" by Townend & Getty
"Let Your Kingdom Come" by Sovereign Grace Music (not sure exactly who the writer was)
Also "Sing To The King", and we sometimes use other verses from the original hymn that Billy James Foote chose not to use in his contemporary work-up for some reason:
Souls shall be saved from the presence of sin,
Doubt shall not darken His witness within,
Hell hath no terrors, and death hath no sting;
Love is victorious when Jesus is King.
All men shall dwell in His marvelous light,
Races long severed His love shall unite;
Justice and truth from His scepter shall spring,
Wrong shall be ended when Jesus is King.
All shall be glad in His kingdom of peace,
Freedom shall flourish and wisdom increase;
Foe shall be friend when His triumph we sing,
Sword shall be sickle when Jesus is King.

Alex...I was not acquainted with "Let Your Kingdom Come" by Sovereign Grace. I just listened to it. It would be a great song. We are actually going to use "Sing to the King" for week 2 of the series.

Hi David,
I have a song in my player called "The Kingdom Of God"... go figure. The lyrics refer to "the world we live in will be radically changed by The Kingdom of God in this world. I think the chord chart is on my page also. If not, I could send it to you.

Steve Fry wrote a great song in his "Thy Kingdom Come" musical: "As In Heaven, So On Earth."
