And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is just as though her head were shaved. If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head.1 Corinthians 11:5

As I saw in many churches where women's don't cover their head. So,are they dishonouring Lord???? Need your comments.

Very well said Leslie! Very important points...authorship, who it was written to and why, context, all very important areas in understanding and applying scripture.

I know that in different denominations such as the "Holiness Church" women still practice covering their heads. But when I looked up this passage in Contemporary English version and Amplified version of the Bible the passage still referred to a physical practice of men not covering their heads, and women covering their heads as a show of honor to God. Then I read the Message version and it put an interesting spin on the passage. It referred to the practice of covering one's head as symbolic, not literal. Now I do admit that this is the only version that I read so far that had that interpretation, but it really made a lot of sense. The way that it was explained in the Message version was about customs concerning leadership between males and females. The final message on that topic was for both men and women to submit first to God and allow Him to lead. I hope that this helps :)

There are general principles that can be drawn from this passage. But any time we start to get into a legalistic thing where someone is feeling grieved and pained because others aren't following the commands of Paul to cover the head, something is wrong.

Funny thing with head-covering adherents. The idea of a head covering is supposedly non-relative, non-cultural and applies to everyone for all ages but the length of hair is allowed to be relative to the culture.

How long is your hair?

Very long upon till I had to cut it several weeks ago because it was damaged after childbirth.

But of course. GOD'S word is ever unchanging and very clear.
