I have seen different programs that are unique ..... We at are church are moving to power point to display music and announcement etc on it ..... We are tring to save money and figuring out the best way to do it .... Is there a way using power point directly ... to make a library on the side while still using power point without going through the start, documents and then each individual file

If you're looking for something like MediaShout, but free, you might want to check out the OpenSong program - I think that's the one. It's free, but in many ways it's less powerful.

The big thing you need to understand is that to make any of these programs work, you have to come up with a video card that lets you display one thing on your computer monitor and something else on a projector screen. This can be done by just putting a second video card in the computer, but, of course, even that isn't entirely easy, because most PCs only have one (or zero) AGP slots, so that second video card will have to be a PCI card. Or if you can get a main video card that also has an S-Video out, you can send a separate video signal to that output, and then connect that to the projector.

Or you can even just get a VGA Y-connector, send the same output to the computer screen and the projector and then just have powerpoint (or OpenSong or whatever) take over the screen... the problem there is that while you're setting up the show to play, you've got ugly computer stuff on your projector screen... but that's probably the cheapest, simplest way to do it.

Do you know what web site is that I can get it
That would be yer http://opensong.org/
I set up a folder on our desktop for Sunday. This folder holds the music powerpoints that we are going to use. (When I an going to be on vacation I place a folder for each Service I will be gone. I have the current Welcome powerpoint that we put up for the congregation before service. This way it is much easier to access thoughout our service. Our main library is in documents.

We open the music folder on the desktop and pull up each powerpoint and minimize them so that we can just click on them when our worship leader needs us to project them for our congregation. It runs pretty smoothly and it is easy for whoever sits in for us. I do all my own photographs for our church powerpoints and have worked out alot of the bugs. Now I can have fun with it!! www.praisepointimage.com
A few things that will help, if you're going to use PPT.

1. Setup a template. In that template, go to the slide master and get all the fonts, etc just the way you want it.
2. Setup the slide transitions to be consistently the same. Don't let surprising transitions become a distraction for the congregation while they are worshipping. IMHO, sometimes less is more.
3. Setup a folder where you keep SONGS, and another folder where you keep SUNDAYS. In the SONGS folder, put ppt files that contain each song, one song per PPT. In the SUNDAYS folder, keep the PPTs that were are used on Sunday. When you introduce a new song to the worship team, get that song added into the SONGS folder as well.
4. When you are going to create a new set for Sunday, start with the previous weeks. Delete out all the songs, keeping the first page (which is the "welcome" overhead). Copy in each song in the set, with blank slides in between as appropriate. (Many of our songs have no break between, and there is no blank page between.) Then SAVE it with the new name ("Save As").

Good luck.. Dave. <><
Also, get two monitors for the person doing overheads. One is in presentation mode, the other is in presenter view. It's a huge help to the person doing the overheads.
There is a program called ProPresenter which lets you simultaneously operate foreground (words) and background (pictures, video, etc), independently -- and set up other stuff while you're showing. Wonderfully user-friendly, especially if you do anything spontaneous at all (say, if a pastor asks, "can you put up such-and-such?).

Astounding program; but it's made for Mac (maybe there's a PC version now). My own experience was limited, except for entering slides and data; the techie-folk set it up, and there are a few Mystery Boxes that I keep plugged in and lit, but don't have the faintest as to what they do. So if you were to look into ProPresenter, make sure you have a reasonably geekish person involved in the process.
