What are your views on letting the Holy Spirit lead you in worship. The Holy Spirit once told me to stop worship and pray for one of the people in youth group, so I stopped playing and announced that we should pray for the young man. The youth group was only small, and I was the only one playing, but as we prayed for the young man the Holy Spirit fell on his sister and I. We started shaking and everyone started prophesying over the young man and his sister.

It was so amazing, it was an indescribable experience, and God's love was on us all. So what are your views on this, maybe not stopping worship but letting the Holy Spirit lead you and the congregation.

Luke,
I am a firm beliver in controled and planned chaos. Know you music know were you are going and how o get there. I know that if God helps me plan a service then it is spirit led. So that if nothing major happens I know that the set was led by the Holy Spirit.
NOW, with that said. I always plan places in the set to do spontanious worship (or) praise whatever the case may be. It sounds funny but I truly belive that God likes order, and I belive that he like the crazy as well. My job is to facilitate both. If you look in Gods creation everything has order.the only thing that doesnt is his church. HA HA HA... A joke - Well the last half was. God has an order for what he wants to do. The scripture says
(RED IN MY BIBLE) "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. John 16:13
All this to say that God will show you how to prepare, and will show you on the fly if and when things need to change. That is what leading worship is all about.
GOOD TOPIC!! :-)
THAT IS ALSO WHAT MAKES IT FUN!!
I think letting the Holy Spirit
lead is one of the way that you give Jesus a
change to speak and and to let us feel His loving Presence.........
I like this Topic.........)
Thanks, Lea... It's so true!
I think that's true, always come with a plan but leave it open to change. Thanks for your great input, David!
Regarding the promptings of the HS on the spot, I think it's very safe to do it on Youth services and the like, but in "Adult" or main services, u really need to have the trust or backing of your senior pastor to do that. Because even if I know the HS is higher in authority that my Pastor, I still believe in Pastoral Leadership.
Thanks for your post.
At our adult church, we have 120 or so people going and we flow in the Holy Spirit. We have total backing from the Senior Leader of the church (Sue Baynes (yes a woman)), and she even comes up and starts flowing in the Holy Spirit as well. To bring in the revival that God wants (all shall hear the Gospel), church leaders need to fully allow the move of the Holy Spirit. And at our church, we believe in strong APASTOLIC leadership but we also believe that if the Lord wants to move in any area, we just humble ourselves and submit.
Good answer! The Holy Spirit will not lead you into rebellion aginst the pastor.
good day!! well, in either way, still Holy Spirit move... in making impromptu decisions we first think of it.. but when it comes to "Holy Spirit" thing.. all we have to do is- we must be sensitive.. may that day, the things happened will be just the beginning of the longing for more of God.. trust in Him.. remember : His thoughts is higher than our thoughts and so His ways !!

*may you be blessed by it as u read it through... God bless to all of you!!! -apple
Thanks for this great post, it's so true!
so, how was your journey? hehehe hope to hear more from you there!

God bless!!!
In the hopes that this forum is for open discussion, I just have to throw something out there.

I believe the entire Bible to be true. However, I am left skeptical when watching television and hearing the accounts of people who are "slain in the Spirit" and shaking and what not. I believe God heals us. I believe God calls us to do things that go against our very nature. But I also believe that God will perform these miracles to glorify Himself, and sometimes it seems that these things are done more to glorify the pastor or person leading rather than the One who gives all power.

I'm sure that's not always the case, and there are plenty of healing and revival sessions that are Spirit-led. But shouldn't we acknowledge the possibility that we are human, and that as humans we can be misled by ourselves?

I don't mean to accuse Luke or anyone. I'm just trying to have some serious discussion about Spirit-leading versus self-leading. I think we need to be fully in prayer in our private lives outside of Sunday morning so that we are as much in tune with God's plan as we possibly can as people...and even then Satan can (and likely will) tempt us.

All things are possible through the Lord...I just want to be sure that I don't get led astray.
