Ok.......so I had Hodgkins 28 years ago and have been disease free all these years......found the kingdom 5 years ago, cast on fire and telling His story through music these past five years......then about 6 weeks ago right side of neck swelled up.......many tests, much prodding, squamous cell neck and throat cancer......started radiation and chemo last week.......was stubborn and did two services Sunday, and almost did not make it off stage......
So, my question......we are leaders in our churches........we agreed to use the gifts that God blessed us with for His Glory and Honor......part of that agreement is to hold ourselves to a higher standard.......we are generally more visible not just due to the elevation of the stage, but by by the degree of leadership we assume.......so at what point in pushing ourselves through the hard health times do we say "I can't"? Through God all things are possible, right? And in taking it down a level or two, do we not exhibit a hypocritical view of our faith to the church family....i.e......through God all things are possible BUT I just cannot do this today?.........confused here, very confused.........
The other thing is so many people come up asking "how are you doing"?......do they really want a straight answer?......I can't see giving them one.....I feel blessed and highly favored........I am allowed to Honor Him with His gifts......on the other hand, I fell like a rat and a bird are having a nasty discussion in my stomach!.......this is a really confusing time.......I know this is a little off the norm, but I could use some wisdom.....
Thank you so much! I have one more round of chemo and three or four weeks of radiation left. Trusting in God and the huge amount of support that I have been receiving....I am healed, just waiting for the doc's to finish their part :-)
Blessings
Chris
