how can you know your spiritual gift and your God given talent
i have read about many people from many books talking about how they know their God given gift and talent. so please can you help me on this topic.

Our bible talks about spiritual gifts and lists quite few, but I am beginning to think that people get stuck....as if they are reading Pauls words as if it is a shopping list. I am seeing that we really have 'diverse' gifts. I am realizing more and more that God really uses 'everything'.....from our past, when we 'turn to Him'. Besides the more commonly talked about 'gifts'....there could also be things like ....some vivid memory of an interaction back in the 5th grade, a thought that occured to you when you were driving down the road, a dream, a traumatic experience...or a very happy one. All of these things are 'who you are'.....and how 'you' interact with people around you. One day, you might be called on by God to minister to someone.....and because of your 'uniqueness'.....you might be the only one who God has prepared to speak to this person. So...in reality, every experience that you have had leading to now, every talent and ability you have developed....could be seen as a 'Spiritual gift'.....A 'Spiritual Gift'....is your way to serve God.

Thats a great answer Robert. Its not so much about the definition of spiritual gifts, or
even knowing them, but more about using them for the benefit and service to others.

There is a lot of discussion about "finding your gift" and as Diana has pointed out, God seems much more concerned that we are "doing" instead of just "talking".
I would begin by looking at the things you are passionate about. Maybe that is something that God has placed within you and wants you to develope. Do you love teaching, does your heart burn with compassion for others, are you gifted with leading others, does music burn within you? I believe that God puts those seeds within us, and as we pursue them, He adds more to it.
The key is to accept those things humbly (no pride allowed, as it is God's gift to you), and then use it for His kingdom.

Amen Rick. I keep coming back to the idea that my 'gift' is what I have been 'given' to 'give' to others.

I am feeling lately that gifts are like buried treasure....and that there are so many to be found, every single place I dig with my shovel yeilds gold. Praise the living God, for His Holy Word, and for giving us a wealth in fellowship together, to come together in agreement in Jesus Name.
