We have communion on the first Sunday of every month, and am on the look out for good communion songs. I know there are a few good hymns...but what songs do you use to lead people into communion?

The ones we have used here are: Once Again
Jesus, Thank You
Come Share the Lord

Also would love to do a service in which the whole Sunday service is focused on Communion. Anyone ever do that? If so, curious what the order of service was and how it was done.

There's a different sounding arrangement of "Lord, Have Mercy" by Eoghan Heaslip that is great for a guitar lead version.

A personal favorite has always been Grace Flows Down which is on one of the Passion CDs.
It's been exciting for me to know that many churches have been using my song This Is Love.
Many have also shown the video. An ad-free high-res version is available through SermonSpice. It's been dowloaded there by churches throughout the US and overseas.
And a free lyric/chord sheet and accompaniment versions of the vidoe are here.
There are so many great Communion songs. Some of our favorites are:

Lead Me To The Cross - Brooke Fraser
This Is Love - Terry Butler, Mike Young
Sweetly Broken - Jeremy Riddle
All For Love - Mia Fieldes
The Blood of Jesus - Michael J. Pritzl
Your Blood Says Everything - Billy Somerville
It's Your Blood - Michael Christ
Saviour - Darlene Zschech
We Remember You - Kirk Dearman
White As Snow - Leon Olguin
We have found Robin Mark's "Jesus, All For Jesus" to be very effective. We also have communion regularly on the first of the month. Tomorrow we are coming to the table with a song called "Surrender" by Marc James. Following communion we will sing "I Will Rise Up" by Mike Ash.
What makes this such a good Communion song?
We all know how clumsy music has been with the limited songs that are out there for the communion process.
Bread, wine, bread& wine, what do we play???!!!
I have often pondered this fact.
So, when this was laid upon me I thought, "Lord, this communion song must be functional."
The way this is written, with short, specific verses works perfect.
Verse 1 is generic, "Do this in remembrance of Me..."
Verse 2 is specific for bread, "This is My body, come and eat..."
Then, verse 3 is specific for the cup/wine, "This is my blood poured out for you..."
Verses 4,5 are generic and you can go back to verse 1 for times sake of write many more, etc, etc.
So, when doing the bread, do verses 1, 2, 4, 5, 1
When doing the cup/wine, do verses, 1, 3, 4, 5, 1
The head musician can totally dictate the process without all that clumsiness that has always been part of the Communion/Song problem And with the flexibility of the verses and short stanzas, you can ALWAYS end when the ushers are done..DONE DEAL!

Has anyone tried Third Days "Communion Song"?
I was suprised no one mentioned Matt Maher's song "Remembrance". One of the best lyrical communion songs I've heard. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d53V3OO9ihU&feature=related
Lord we remember you, and remembrance leads us to worship
And as we worship you, our worship leads to communion
We respond to your invitation, we remember you

Also Dave, if you like John Green's song, check out one he and I wrote together called Jesus' Blood on my player. I put it on my solo CD project last year. I met John on another website and we began writing together. We've written a few together.

Yes, I like 'Remembrance' too, though I'm more familiar with the version performed by Matt Redman:

We also use hymns like 'When I survey' (Isaac Watt), or songs like 'How deep the Father's love' (Stuart Townend).
Peter
Here is my communion song:
Broken (This is my body broken for you)
It is based on Mark 14:22 and Isaiah 53

I really like "Communion" by Third Day. It's the bonus track on their "Where You Are" album.

I found your site of song suggestions for communion.
Here is one that I wrote - would love for you to recommend it.
It works for communion services (and wedding communion services)
MP3 is attached and the lyrics are below. It is available on iTunes and Amazon.

As One

I am humbled by your goodness

I am lifted by your grace

I am breathing by your mercy

Got a tight grip on your embrace

Soul to soul

Heart to heart

Eye to Eye

What’s yours is mine

Faith to faith

Deep to deep

Day to day

You and me are ..

As one (As One we always were)

We always were

As one (As One bound by your word)

Bound by your word

Nothing will come between us

You are mighty

I am strengthened

You are healing

I am whole

You are holy

I am separate

You’re my promise

I’m your own

Soul to soul

Heart to heart

Eye to Eye

What’s yours is mine

Faith to faith

Deep to deep

Day to day

You and me are ..

CHORUS

Jesus loves me this I know….
